Woven, Part 2

WOVEN
A Unified Community
March 13, 2022 | By Joseph McCormick

In his last hours, Jesus prayed for us and people who would believe in Him. He prayed that the Holy Spirit would guide us to come together in biblical community. Our unity is to be a declaration of God’s love to a broken and hurting world.

MESSAGE NOTES

John 17:20
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message…”

John 17:21
…that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.

John 17:21
May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

John 17:22
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.

John 17:23
I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

John Piper
“We can’t afford to make light of divisions in the Church, but we can’t afford to make death of them either.”

1 Corinthians 1:10
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1 Corinthians 1:12-13
“One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?”

Ephesians 4:3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Augustine
In Essentials Unity, in non-essentials liberty. In all things charity.

Galatians 5:14-15
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

Psalm 133:1-2
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.

“Holy Spirit, make us one so that we can reach many.”

Ephesians 4:4-6
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
