“Hospitality,” writes Rosaria Butterfield, “is how we turn strangers into friends and friends into the family of God.” Though this practice has been all but forgotten in our cultural moment, we believe it has never been more important for followers of Jesus to relearn if we are going to make a difference in the lives of the people who are close to us, but far from Jesus. As has been often noted, the center point for both Jesus and the early centuries of His movement was not the stage or a building, but a table and a home.
