PRACTICING THE WAY OF JESUS TOGETHER
Covenant Partners
September 12, 2021 | By Paul Crouthamel

NOTES

Our Core Values

  1. Exalting Jesus
  2. Loving People
  3. Extending the Kingdom of God

A covenant is when two parties come together and mutually agree on something.

There are five primary covenants that shape the story of the Bible.

Genesis 6:5
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Biblical Covenants
1. Noah

Genesis 8:21
And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.

Biblical Covenants
2. Abraham

Genesis 15:18
On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land…”

Biblical Covenants
3. Moses

Exodus 24:7
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.

Biblical Covenants
4. David

2 Samuel 7:16
And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.

Biblical Covenants
5. Jesus

Jeremiah 31:31-34
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Luke 22:20
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
