Make Room, Part 2

MAKE ROOM
Who Are You Missing?
August 2, 2026 | By Paul Crouthamel

We cross paths with people every day, but how often do we actually see them?

It’s easy to notice someone’s behavior, opinions, or differences and assume we know their story. Jesus saw people differently. He slowed down, moved toward people others avoided, and looked beyond what was happening on the surface. Instead of judgment, He responded with compassion.

In Part 2 of Make Room, we explore what it means to really see the people around us and what we might discover when we stop assuming, pay attention, and take a longer look.

MESSAGE NOTES

How do we begin to see people the way Jesus sees people?

–

Matthew 7v28-8v1
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority , and not as their teachers of the law. When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.

–

Matthew 8v16-18
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

–

Jesus sees, really sees, and loves people we talk about and keep at a distance

–

Matthew 9v35-38
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into the harvest field.

–

Jesus was intentionally present with people

–

Jesus saw people with “compassionate” eyes

–

Jesus saw their real condition beneath their behavior

–

Jesus saw people ready to be saved
