Selfless, Part 4

SELFLESS
A House Divided
June 12, 2022 | By Legin

On Sunday, guest speaker Legin shared a message about demonstrating the gospel and reconciliation with others. Until Jesus comes, there will always be a tension between what is and what is possible, but, with the help of the Holy Spirit, perhaps we can learn to be a group of people who leave our corners, adjust our lenses, and move in the direction of others.

MESSAGE NOTES

2 Corinthians 5:18-19
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Revelation 7:9
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.

Matthew 12:25
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”

The Church is busy splitting on things that are important instead of unifying on things that are essential.

Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.

Tim Keller, Counterfeit Gods
“Another sign of idolatry in our politics is that opponents are not considered to be simply mistaken, but to be evil.”

Kevin Halloran
20. You think every one of your opponents is as bad as their party’s worst example.

Dr. Jack Gaines
Reconciliation isn’t a man to man proposition, it’s a God to Man proposition.

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The dividing line of our Corners is our Political Idolatry that Keeps Us Apart.

We must be willing to stand in the Gospel alone and leave our corners.

Matthew 12:25
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”

Matthew 6:10
“Your kingdom come…on earth as it is in heaven”

2 Corinthians 5:18-19
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
